Children may first attend the nursery from the age
of 2 years. From 4 years of age there is a wrap-around
service for children attending school for half a day.

We work in close partnership with parents and our
approach is flexible in order to meet the individual
needs of each child. Children will attend for a short
visit with a parent/carer prior to their start date.
Children may need to attend for shorter sessions at
first. Each child is allocated a Key Worker who will
observe and monitor their progress and liaise with
the child’s parents/carer.

The nursery has a large play room used for group activities,
messy play, arts and crafts etc and a smaller, cosy
room used for story time, book corner and imaginative
play with a large indoor play house. This smaller
room is also used as a quiet area for younger children
who need a rest after lunch. Outside we have plenty
of space for play on hard and soft surfaces with lots
of fun equipment.

Wag Tail equally welcomes children from all families
within the community. The nursery is sympathetic to
the celebration of Christmas and Easter.

Wag Tail aims to provide equality of opportunity for
all children within its care including those with
special educational needs. The nursery will admit
any child providing their individual needs can be
met and we will work in liaison with other professionals
in order to best do so.

Wag Tail Nursery is registered with Ofsted and in
July 2005 had its first Ofsted inspection which concluded
that overall, the nursery is a ‘GOOD’
provision. The nursery was also judged to be ‘OUTSTANDING’
for ‘Protecting Children from Harm or Neglect
and Helping them Stay Safe’. The report said
“Children behave well, they are enthusiastic
and well motivated; they benefit from the consistent
praise and encouragement offered.” For a full
copy of the report, please go to www.ofsted.gov.uk.
